About Meijo Park
Meijo Park is broadly divided into two areas: the North Garden and the South Garden. The North Garden area includes the lawn park, Flower Plaza, and the Dutch-style windmill. The South Garden area, on the other hand, contains Nagoya Castle and the Aichi Prefectural Gymnasium. Generally, when referring to Meijo Park, it often means the North Garden, but in reality, Meijo Park includes both the North Garden and the South Garden, which contains Nagoya Castle.
This article introduces the North Garden of Meijo Park.
Note that the Aichi Prefectural Gymnasium, which is aging, is currently being replaced with a new sports facility within the North Garden. The new Aichi Prefectural Gymnasium is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2025.
Lawn Park
At almost the center of the North Garden is the lawn park. This spacious lawn, surrounded by trees, is a place where families enjoy their time, playing or relaxing on leisure sheets.
There is also a stream flowing through the lawn park. From spring to autumn, it is possible to play in the water.
Dutch-style Windmill
Within the lawn park, there is a Dutch-style windmill. The reason why this seemingly antique windmill is installed in Meijo Park is not clear. In front of the windmill, there is a flower bed, where seasonal flowers like tulips bloom.
Ofuke-ike
At Ofuke Pond, there are two fountains, and the view of Nagoya Castle's castle tower over the pond is very beautiful. However, currently, it is not possible to see the castle tower due to construction work near the adjacent outdoor stage.
Flower Plaza
The Flower Plaza is a facility designed to host exhibitions and workshops about flowers and greenery, allowing for the sharing of knowledge about gardening.
Inside, there are an atrium and a sunroom where exhibitions related to flowers and greenery are held. Additionally, the outdoor garden allows visitors to view a variety of flowers that change with the seasons.
Moreover, there is a flower cafe inside, where visitors can enjoy drinks and lunch in a serene environment surrounded by flowers.
tonarino
tonarino is a commercial facility within Meijo Park. It includes dining options such as Starbucks, GARB CASTELLO, and DEAN & DELUCA. In addition, it houses stores related to sports, such as cycling and running.
