While Nagoya Castle and Meijo Park have paid parking facilities, many of the roads surrounding Nagoya Castle allow street parking on Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and during certain times of the day. It is important to note that these are not designated parking areas but roads where parking is merely permitted. Knowing about these streets where parking is allowed for free can be useful. Here, we will discuss the roads around Nagoya Castle where street parking is possible and the specific days when it is allowed.

Full Section of Road where Street Parking is allowed and Points to Note When Parking on the Street

The sections of the road around Nagoya Castle where street parking is allowed, which we will introduce this time, are indicated by the following red line sections. While I will explain in detail later, please be aware that although street parking may be possible up to a certain point, there are some areas where street parking is prohibited from that point up to the next intersection.

Also, even in sections where street parking is possible, there are legally designated areas where street parking is not allowed. In the area we're introducing, please pay special attention to the following places:

Within 5 meters of an intersection
5 meters before and after a pedestrian crossing
10 meters around a bus stop
3 meters around the entrance and exit of a parking lot

The road from 'Meijo Koen Minami' to 'Sujikai Hashi'

This is the road that goes from the 'Meijo Koen Minami' intersection to the 'Sujikai Hashi' intersection. It is located on the north side of Nagoya Castle and runs between Nagoya Castle and Meijo Park.

The road from 'Sujikai Hashi' to 'Meijo Koen Minami'

This is the road that goes from the 'Sujikai Hashi' intersection to the 'Meijo Koen Minami' intersection. It is located on the north side of Nagoya Castle and runs between Nagoya Castle and Meijo Park.

It's the same road as mentioned earlier, but please note that the start of the street parking section is not from the intersection, but from the area of Meijo Park.

Otsu-dori 'Shiyakusho' to 'Meijo Koen Minami'

This is the road from the 'Shiyakusho' intersection on Otsu-dori to the 'Meijo Koen Minami' intersection. It is located on the east side of Nagoya Castle.

The end of the street parking section is not at the 'Meijo Koen Minami' intersection, but just past the entrance to the Meijo Park North Garden parking lot. Beyond that point is a no-parking zone, so please be aware.

Otsu-dori 'Meijo Koen Minami' to 'Meijo Koen'

This road runs from the 'Meijo Koen Minami' intersection to the 'Meijo Koen' intersection on Otsu-dori, located on the east side of Meijo Park.

Due to ongoing construction, the sign indicating the end of the street parking section is currently placed before the intersection, but before the construction, the sign was located at the intersection. Please note that beyond this point on Otsu-dori, there are no sections where street parking is allowed.

Otsu-dori 'Meijo Koen' to 'Meijo Koen Minami'

This is the road from the 'Meijo Koen' intersection to the 'Meijo Koen Minami' intersection on Otsu-dori. It's a road that runs along the west side of the Aichi Gakuin University Meijo Park Campus, on the east side of Meijo Park.

Due to ongoing construction, the sign marking the start of the street parking section is placed a bit further from the intersection, whereas before construction, it was located right at the intersection. Also, the end of the parking section is not up to the 'Meijo Koen Minami' intersection but quite before it, approximately near the Lawson store inside the university. From there to the intersection is a no-parking zone, so please be cautious.

Otsu-dori 'Meijo Koen Minami' to 'Shiyakusho'

This is the road that goes from the 'Meijo Koen Minami' intersection to the 'Shiyakusho' intersection on Otsu-dori. It is a road that runs along the west side of Nagoya Medical Center, on the east side of Nagoya Castle.

The end of the section where street parking is possible is not at the 'Shiyakusho' intersection, but considerably before it. From there to the intersection is a no-parking zone, so please be cautious.

Dekimachi-dori 'Shiyakusho' to 'Ninomaru'

This is the road that goes from the 'Shiyakusho' intersection to the 'Ninomaru' intersection on Dekimachi-dori. It is a road that runs along the north side of the area where government offices are located, on the south side of Nagoya Castle.

The end of the section where street parking is possible on Dekimachi-dori is not up to the 'Ninomaru' intersection but quite before it, approximately in front of the building of the Aichi Prefectural Police Headquarters. From there to the intersection is a no-parking zone, so please be cautious.

Dekimachi-dori 'Ninomaru' to 'Naka-ku Sannomaru 1-chome'

This is the road that goes from the 'Ninomaru' intersection to the 'Naka-ku Sannomaru 1-chome' intersection on Dekimachi-dori. It is a road that runs along the north side of Meijo Hospital and KKR Hotel Nagoya, on the south side of Nagoya Castle.

The end of the section where street parking is possible is not up to the 'Naka-ku Sannomaru 1-chome' intersection, but up to the pedestrian bridge located before the intersection. From there to the intersection is a no-parking zone, so please be cautious.

Dekimachi-dori 'Naka-ku Sannomaru 1-chome' to 'Ninomaru'

This is the road that goes from the 'Naka-ku Sannomaru 1-chome' intersection to the 'Ninomaru' intersection on Dekimachi-dori. It is a road that passes along the south side of Nagoya Castle.

The end of the section where street parking is possible is not up to the 'Ninomaru' intersection, but quite before it, at a considerable distance before the intersection. From there to the intersection is a no-parking zone, so please be cautious.

Dekimachi-dori 'Ninomaru' to 'Shiyakusho'

This is the road that goes from the 'Ninomaru' intersection to the 'Shiyakusho' intersection on Dekimachi-dori. It is a road that passes along the south side of Nagoya Castle.

The end of the section where street parking is possible is not up to the 'Shiyakusho' intersection, but at a considerable distance before the intersection. From there to the intersection is a no-parking zone, so please be cautious.

'Ninomaru' Intersection Northbound Road

This is a narrow road located on the north side of the 'Ninomaru' intersection on Dekimachi-dori.

Upon entering from the intersection and going all the way back, the road loops around to return. The section from the entrance to the exit of the 'Ninomaru' intersection is where street parking is possible, but street parking is not feasible for a while after entering from the entrance due to the narrowness of the road. The same applies to the part where the road loops back. Therefore, street parking is only possible in the back part where the road is slightly wider.
