Number of parking spaces and usage fees for each parking lot
There are 11 parking lots available at Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Garden. Business hours are 8:45 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (excluding parking lot in front of Sky Tower). The number of spaces available for each parking lot and the usage fee for regular cars are as follows.

Seimon-mae Parking
The Seimon-mae Parking is located in front of the main gate of Higashiyama Zoo, and is the most convenient parking lot when going to the main zoo.
However, the number of parking spaces available is only 90, so it often fills up quickly on holidays.
Shin-Ike Parking
The Shin-Ike Parking is located across the road from Higashiyama Zoo's North Gate.
This parking lot is often used when the Seimon-mae Parking is full. The number of parking spaces available is 291, which is a large number. As soon as you cross the traffic light from the parking lot, you will see the North gate.
Hokuen-mae Parking
The Hokuen-mae Parking is located in front of the Higashiyama Zoo North Gate, and is the most convenient parking lot when going to the Zoo North Park.
Conveniently located in front of the North gate. There are 136 parking spaces available, but spaces may be reserved for large vehicles and may fill up quickly. In that case, please use the Shin-Ike Parking.
Kami-Ike Parking
Kami-Ike Parking is a parking lot located near Kamiike of Higashiyama Zoo Main Garden. It is located between the main gate of the zoo and the Kamiike gate of the zoo. Rather, it is a convenient parking lot if you want to go to the botanical garden, the children's zoo, or the Kamiike area. The number of parking spaces is limited to 33.
If you park at the Kami-Ike Parking, the road into the parking lot is one-way. Please go straight ahead without turning on the road that passes in front of the main gate.
If you keep going, you will see the entrance to the Kami-Ike Parking just before the traffic light.
Skytower-mae Parking
The Skytower-mae Parking is a parking lot with an entrance near the Sky Tower Gate. This is the most convenient parking lot when going to the Sky Tower, the Natural Zoo in the North Zoo, or the Medaka Museum of the World.
To get to the Skytower-mae Parking, turn left on the street in front of the Botanical Garden Gate and Kamiike Gate.
Proceed towards Hoshigaoka Gate, and when you see the parking sign in front of Hoshigaoka Gate, turn left.
The Skytower-mae Parking is a long parking lot in the back, and there are quite a lot of parking spaces, 282 cars.
Hoshigaoka Parking
Hoshigaoka Parking is the closest parking lot to Hoshigaoka Gate. Convenient when entering the botanical garden from Hoshigaoka Gate. Please note that the number of available spaces is only 26.
There is a parking lot between the intersection where you enter the Skytower-mae Parking and the Hoshigaoka Gate.
Shokubutuen-higashi Parking
The Shokubutuen-higashi Parking is a convenient parking lot when entering the Botanical Garden from the Botanical Garden Gate or Kamiike Gate. The maximum number of machines available is 362.
To get to the Shokubutuen-higashi Parking, turn right on the street in front of the Botanical Garden Gate and Kamiike Gate.
If you continue along the road, you will see the entrance to the parking lot. (On the way, the parking lot of Garden Terrace Higashiyama is on the left, but please be careful not to enter there).
The Shokubutuen-higashi Parking is a very long parking lot.
Midoribashi-shita Parking
The Midoribashi-shita parking is a convenient parking lot when entering the park from the Botanical Garden Gate or Kamiike Gate.
There are parking lots on both sides of the Midoribashi-shita Parking across the road. Each entrance is separate, so even if one side is full, the other side may be empty.
Doubutuen-nishi Parking
The Doubutuen-nishi Parking is located a short distance from the Zoo and Botanical Gardens entrance.
To go to the Doubutuen-nishi Parking, turn right on the road in front of the main gate.
Pass in front of the police station and turn left at the end.
If you follow the road for a while, there will be a parking lot on the left.
Midoribashi-minami Parking
Midoribashi-minami Parking is a parking lot that can be used for free except during periods when specific events are being held. If you go a little further along the road in front of the Midoribashi-shita parking, you will find a parking lot at a three-way intersection. The entrance is on the left.
It's a good value parking lot because it's free and not far from the paid Midoribashi-shita Parking, but there are only 37 spaces, so it often fills up quickly.
Uedayama Parking
Uedayama Parking is also a parking lot that can be used for free, except during periods when specific events are being held.
Continue straight ahead on the road in front of Midoribashi-minami Parking.
If you continue along the road for a while, you will see a large parking lot on the left.
About on-street parking around Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens
In the area surrounding Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens, on-street parking is not prohibited on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, specifically on the road leading from the main gate to the Kami-Ike Parking Lot.
To find these parking spots, continue straight without turning off the road that passes in front of the main gate.
On this road, you will see parking prohibition signs. However, these signs indicate "Except on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays," meaning on-street parking is not prohibited on these days. Therefore, on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, it's permissible to park on the street in areas with these signs.
Please note that even in areas where on-street parking is allowed, it's not permitted to park or stop within 5 meters before and after pedestrian crossings for safety reasons.
When parking in the area around Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens, vehicles should be parked on the left side of the road.
However, there are two locations designated as emergency vehicle access points where parking is prohibited at all times, regardless of the day of the week or holidays.
As you proceed down the road, you'll find the entrance to the Kami-Ike Parking Lot on the left. Just before a traffic signal beyond this entrance, there is a sign indicating the extent of permissible on-street parking.
On-street parking is allowed up to this sign on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. This means you can park for free on these days, but remember, the road is not a designated parking area. Be mindful not to cause any inconvenience or disputes with other road users.
When observing the situation on a holiday, it becomes apparent that about an hour after the opening of Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens, there are already many cars parked on the streets, and there are hardly any street parking spots available.
